WHEN SILENCE SETTLES
This is a lettering project based on a Czech poem for children. In this work, I use Latin letterforms, focusing on the Czech language and its distinctive diacritics, which become an integral part of the composition.
The piece explores a light, scattered structure — almost like a constellation — where letters are arranged as if stars, echoing the idea of birds singing across the sky.
Birds sing all day long,
their voices soft and light.
They sing today as they did yesterday,
from morning until night.
When their song is over, they go to sleep,
and dream their gentle dreams —
of meadows filled with fragrant flowers
and moonlight softly gleaming.
All through the night, the moon shines bright
upon their quiet nest,
when silence gently settles in
and wraps the world in rest.
