INNER FLEXIBILITY
This is a lettering project created within a small independent group brought together by a shared love for letterforms. From time to time, we come up with a common theme for our work. This time, the theme was nature and our relationship with it.
As part of this theme, I created this piece, which I called Inner Flexibility. It is based on a well-known idea by the Chinese philosopher Laozi. It expresses the thought that flexibility, softness, and adaptability are signs of strength and vitality, while rigidity, hardness, and stiffness are connected to decline and death.
I explore this idea through Cyrillic letterforms, translating it into a visual language of type.
